Unser Team

Azadi Freedom was founded by Samuel, who is originally from Pakistan and lives in Germany. He has years of experience working with various projects of foreign organizations in Pakistan. He has worked with underprivileged children and young people, as well as with refugees from different parts of Pakistan.
His deep concern for the challenges faced by religious minorities in Pakistan inspired a group of people in Germany and Pakistan to join him and establish this ministry of liberation.

We at Azadi Freedom firmly believe that freedom is an inalienable right for every human being, regardless of social status, ethnicity, skin color, or religion. Our mission is to liberate and empower individuals to lead lives of dignity and purpose.

We recognize that true freedom extends beyond physical liberation and includes the ability to shape one’s own destiny free from oppression and exploitation. Our commitment drives us to dismantle systemic barriers that perpetuate unfreedom and inequality, and to create pathways to autonomy and self-determination.

We strive not only to meet immediate needs, but also to promote long-term resilience and independence. We are therefore committed to education, economic empowerment, and social justice, aiming to break the cycle of vulnerability and create a world where human rights are universally respected and protected.

Our vision is a society in which every individual can stand upright, in which their own value is recognized, and in which they contribute to human progress with dignity and purpose.

Dr. John-Harry Wieken

Dr. John-Harry Wieken is an experienced computer scientist with extensive experience in development, product management, and consulting in the field of databases and data analysis. He has authored several technical books and has worked as an educator at both the secondary and university levels. Pakistan, which from a German perspective is often overshadowed by China and India, faces unique challenges that deserve attention. One of these problems is the situation of religious minorities, especially Christians, who make up about 1-2% of the population. These minorities face various challenges, including: Legal problems related to blasphemy laws; cases of forced religious conversion; occasional violence against minority groups. A major problem is the practice of debt bondage, which officially does not exist but persists in reality. This situation often arises when people incur debt due to: – Medical emergencies – Crop failures – Other basic needs High interest rates make it difficult for people to escape this cycle of debt, even if they work hard. The amounts are often small by German standards, but insurmountable for those affected. The organization's goal is to directly support families through personal relationships and help them end their debt bondage. This approach allows for targeted assistance without excessive administrative overhead, while still operating within the framework of a reputable organization. The aim is to raise awareness of these issues and to provide practical support to those in need, regardless of their faith, skin color, ethnicity, or community. This work is part of a broader effort to promote understanding of and support for the rights of minorities in Pakistan. Dr. Wieken's background in computer science, particularly in database development and data analysis, is invaluable to Azadi Freedom's work. His experience in education, both as a school administrator and university lecturer, enhances the organization's ability to communicate effectively and raise awareness. His unique combination of technical skills, educational background, and humanitarian values makes Dr. Wieken an indispensable member of the Azadi Freedom team. He makes a significant contribution to the organization's mission to free families from debt bondage and improve the lives of vulnerable communities in Pakistan. I was born in 1957 in the Ruhr area, am a mining engineer, and have spent almost four decades in the workforce. My professional experience has given me a solid foundation in project management, problem-solving, and working with diverse teams – skills that I believe will be valuable in supporting Azadi Freedom's mission. Throughout my professional career, I have maintained a strong interest in social issues and community development. Now retired, I want to dedicate my energy and expertise to meaningful projects that tangibly change people's lives. This desire led me to discover the important work of Azadi Freedom. The plight of the families trapped in debt bondage in Pakistani brick factories deeply moves me. It serves as a stark reminder that despite global progress, modern forms of slavery still exist. Throughout my career, I have held various leadership positions within the Lutheran Church, including pastor, superintendent, and most recently, director of the Evangelical Lutheran Mission in Lower Saxony. My passion has always been to advocate for and support those on the margins of society. This commitment has been a driving force in my work and has inspired me to initiate and oversee numerous diaconal and social projects. One of my proudest achievements was the establishment of a diaconal foundation in the Gifhorn church district, which continues to have a significant impact on the community. The Azadi Freedom Project fully aligns with my core values and professional experience. Its mission to liberate people from the shackles of dependency and modern slavery perfectly complements my lifelong commitment to social justice. I am particularly drawn to the project's holistic approach, which focuses not only on freeing people from slavery but also on empowering them to build sustainable, independent lives. I am convinced that this comprehensive strategy for transforming the lives of the people we help will create lasting change.
